As the end of summer approaches, many of us are tired of the constant maintenance that comes with a thriving outdoor area. But fear not, because fall is just around the corner, and with it comes the opportunity to transform your front porch into a cozy and inviting space. This year, I decided to take a different approach and use soft natural colors and faux foliage to create a low-maintenance yet beautiful fall front porch. By incorporating dried tall grass, corn husks, seeded berries, and dried hydrangeas, I was able to achieve a realistic look without the need for watering or constant upkeep. To complete the cozy fall aesthetic, I incorporated warm creams and greys into throw pillows and blankets, and stacked pumpkins in muted falls shades. So, get ready to welcome guests and embrace the joyful colors of fall with this easy and cost-effective porch transformation!
Door Wreaths: An attractive wreath on your front door instantly adds a touch of fall charm to your porch. Opt. for wreaths made from artificial foliage in warm autumn colors, however, this year I chose to use soft natural colors so I used a wreath made from dried corn husks and would compliment my other foliage. I purchased mine from Hobby Lobby (link Here). Once you have selected your wreath you can personalize it with ribbons, additional foliage, or mini pumpkins. I added this gorgeous ribbon for a more French country feel and clean look. It added the just the right amount of interest and charm.
Faux & Dried Foliage: Fall is the perfect time to introduce some dried or faux foliage into your outdoor spaces. There are so many great options this time of year and make a great alternative to real foliage. You can also gather some dried corn stalks or wheat bundles and place them in pots for a rustic fall touch. This year, I wanted a rich, lush look that was subtle and soft in color. I aimed for height, texture, and just a few pops of warm colors.
To achieve this look, start by removing any summer plants from your pots. We began by layering the draping leaf garland around the base of the pot. You can secure this differently, but we just tucked it directly into the soil at different points. Make sure to break up the soil so you can plant the items securely and deeply to avoid wobbling - yes, we are inserting everything directly into the soil you already have to hold them in place!
Once we had our base foundation ready we began layering in all of the other items. We started with the tallest dried grasses towards the back center, next to the seeded blush berries, followed by the dried corn husk, approximately four burnt orange hydrangeas, and finally filled the gaps with the blush hydrangeas and remaining corn husk picks. We actually used my real hydrangeas that we cut from the yard and were already drying out with this beautiful blush shade, but the faux ones listed in the resources would make a great alternative.

And voila! You've got yourself a beautiful front porch that fully embraces the beauty of fall, all without the hassle of constant maintenance.
So, here's the thing about pumpkin displays: you've got options. You can go with real pumpkins or fake ones if that's more your style, but personally, I'm all about the real deal. There's just something special about their natural beauty and the way they capture those warm autumn hues. Plus, let's be honest, they scream "fall" like nothing else. To amp up your front porch game, get creative with different sizes and colors. Stack 'em up for some serious eye-catching action or line 'em up on your steps or porch railing. The choice is yours, my friend!
Cozy Seating: Create a cozy seating area on your porch where you can enjoy a hot cup of cider or watch the leaves fall. I used my existing Adirondack chairs and layered this super soft throw over it and pillows in neutral soft hues. Check out our mood board below to shop these great finds!
