I recently had the pleasure of decorating my dear friend Emily's home for the holidays. We went all out with the garland and tree, so I aimed to style the large coffee table in a way that was both festive and substantial, without competing with the other design elements in the room. Here’s how I crafted a look that is simple, yet elegant and full of holiday cheer.
Ground the Look with a Gorgeous Shagreen Leather Tray
Start by selecting a shagreen leather tray as the foundation for your styling. The texture of shagreen adds an element of sophistication and luxury, grounding the entire look. Choose a neutral or rich color that complements your existing décor. The tray will help organize the items on your table, providing a cohesive and polished appearance. We used the Ivory tray in 20" x 20", but below is an additional option that is equally as beautiful in an antique brown.
Incorporate a Clean Acrylic Book Holder
Next, incorporate a clean acrylic book holder to showcase a rich winter-themed coffee table book. Acrylic holders are not only functional but also add a modern touch without overwhelming the other elements. Choose a book with a stunning cover or spine that captures the essence of the season, whether it features snowy landscapes or cozy interiors.
Add a Festive Touch with Vintage Bells
For a simple yet festive addition, adorn your coffee table with classic vintage bells. These can be placed on the tray or nestled among the other elements. To enhance the holiday spirit, dress the bells with a sprig of evergreen and a velvet ribbon. Select a ribbon color that complements your space, adding a subtle, elegant touch that ties the entire look together.
Add a Candle to Capture the Essence of Christmas
Finally, don't overlook a candle that captures the essence of Christmas. Emily chose a THYME candle, in the fresh-cut scent of Frasier fir that is incredible. The warm glow of the candlelight will enhance the festive atmosphere while the delightful fragrance fills your space with holiday spirit.
By combining these elements, your coffee table will not only exude festive charm but also offer a sophisticated and welcoming atmosphere for your holiday gatherings.
