Transforming Girls’ Bedrooms in Phases: Phase 1

Phase 1:

Revamping a bedroom can seem overwhelming and pricey, particularly when you have ambitious goals in mind. However, we're here to reassure you that there's no need to accomplish everything at once. Two of Amy's daughters share a room that hasn't been quite right. Although bunk beds may seem ideal, they aren't always the best fit, plus storage continues to be an issue. Therefore, we decided to approach the transformation in phases. shared girls room with twin beds, pink and blue
Here's a glimpse at our achievements in Phase 1 and a sneak peek of what's to come.

Phase 1: A Fresh Start

In the first phase of the bedroom renovation, we concentrated on establishing a cozy and harmonious sleeping environment. We switched from bunk beds to two twin beds, granting each girl her own space. We found these adorable Metal Jenny Lind Bedframes for a great deal on Amazon, and add the perfect classic touch. This adjustment not only made the room feel larger, but also allows for more personalized touches in their individual areas.

Bedding Basics

To complement the new beds, we found some fabulous coordinating bedspreads on Amazon. These soft pink comforters are so soft and sweet, perfectly blending with the existing classic blue and white striped sheets and accent pillows. The combination creates a fresh and inviting atmosphere, maintaining a classic yet youthful vibe. shared girls room with twin beds, pink and blue

Stylish Additions

To elevate the new sleeping arrangements and storage needs, we incorporated a few key pieces:
  • Night Stand:
    • The shared nightstand needed to be a standalone statement piece, grounding the space while being functional, producing additional storage for clothes. I absolutely love this nightstand we found. It came from Wayfair, but it no longer available. I was able to source the same dresser here, but have  also gathered a few other nice alternatives.
  • Statement Lamp:
    • Never underestimate the impact of a new lamp or the repositioning of an existing one. We found this charming lamp at Home Goods. The ceramic flowers and petal-shaped shade add a significant design element while also serving its purpose. They do sell this exact lamp on Wayfair, but it's certainly more expensive than the one we scored at Home Goods! I highly recommend checking out Home Goods for a great assortment of high-end Lamp options.
  • Wall Art
    • Amy found these adorable woven flowers for to use on the main wall along side an existing piece of art she had. The warmth of these delightful decorations from Target perfectly complements the existing “Dream Big” wall art, beautifully tying the new look together. The warmth of these pieces also help to compliment the new wood nightstand.
These enhancements not only boost the room's overall look and feel, but also contribute functionality and charm. The room feels twice as big and the girls are excited with the changes! white Ceramic lamp with flowers and petal lamp shade

Looking Ahead: Phase 2 (and possibly a Phase 3).

With Phase 1 establishing a solid foundation, we're eager to move on to Phase 2, where our primary focus will be on optimizing storage and refining the room's overall design. Here's what we have in store:
  • Built-In Storage Unit:
    • Given the limited closet space shared by the girls, we plan to install a built-in storage unit on the wall opposite the beds, providing ample space for clothes and essentials.
  • Built-In Desks:
    • Two desks will be integrated on either side of the new built-in storage unit, creating dedicated study areas for each girl and fostering their individual spaces.
  • Wallpaper and Drapes:
    • New wallpaper and drapes will be added to elevate the room's aesthetic and infuse a touch of sophistication.
  • Ceiling Light:
    • A new statement ceiling light will serve as the finishing touch, offering better illumination for the room and dramatically enhancing the space.
Stay tuned as we embark on this exciting transformation journey. Our mission is to create a space that is both functional and reflective of the little personalities and needs of the girls who call it home.
