I absolutely love decorating kids' rooms, especially during Christmas time. It's a space that I find truly magical. For the past couple of years, I've been on the hunt for Christmas bedding for my girls, but it's been a real challenge to find a set that matches in both twin and toddler sizes. However, just recently I stumbled upon this amazing gingham duvet cover that captured my heart right away. Sadly, it was not available in a toddler size - of course!
But despite this setback, I decided to go ahead and buy the twin set which came with two pillow shams. I got creative and cut the duvet cover in half so that I could sew it into two separate smaller covers. This way, both of my girls could have matching Christmas bedding.
The whole project ended up costing me $29, and to complete the duvet covers, I purchased two $10 throws to use as inserts. The throws don't fit perfectly inside, but it certainly does the job and is everything I had hoped for. Not only do the duvet cover and shams wash up nicely, but they also provide just the festive touch I was looking for without being too "Christmasy". And guess what? They come in an array of other fabulous colors too!
I pretty much already had all the other items in their room. I bought the two velvet lumbar pillows in 2020, but I wasn't using them anymore. The "Merry" Pillows were a $10 buy from Target last year.
The little wooden houses and trees were also purchased from Target's seasonal $3 to $5 bin. I tried my best to find similar items that are still available, so you can shop the look if you want to.
I hope you enjoy this post and watching your little ones' faces light up as they decorate their own tree or see their room transform into a winter wonderland! Have fun!
