Simple Swaps for a Spooky Season
As summer comes to an end and the fall approaches, it’s the perfect time to update your foyer table for Halloween. This often-overlooked space sets the tone for your entire home, making it an ideal canvas for seasonal decorating. Here’s how Amy and I made a few simple swaps to create a welcoming, yet spooky, atmosphere for your Fall visitors.
From Bright Florals to Fall Stems
During the summer, a vibrant and cheerful floral arrangement probably adorned your foyer table. Now that fall is approaching, it's time to replace those florals with a more autumnal touch. Consider using seeded stems and black branches for this seasonal transition. These understated stems bring a natural element and introduce a hint of drama to your decor. We bought a timeless White Terracotta Vase from Hobby Lobby that beautifully complements these simple branches.
Our goal was to create a simple yet impressive arrangement. We came across these great Rice Stem Bundles at Walmart, priced at $5.47 per bundle, providing a realistic appearance without costing a fortune. We used 3-4 bundles. For a Halloween twist, we incorporated black dried willow branches from Home Goods. If you can't find them at your local Home Goods, here's a great alternative available on Amazon. The seeded stems stand out beautifully on their own. After Halloween, if you decide to remove the black branches, you'll still have a charming centerpiece perfect for Thanksgiving.
Seasonal Art: Playful Halloween Prints
Next, consider the artwork on your foyer table. Summer often calls for light, airy prints or bright cheerful art. For Halloween, swap these out for fun Halloween-themed prints. Think along the lines of vintage-inspired witch illustrations, or charming ghost graphics. These prints will add a festive flair without overwhelming the space.
We used these fun Halloween prints from Etsy, but if this isn’t your look, check out our Blog Post with our Round-Up of Halloween and Fall Art, which also features recommendations on where to have digital art printed, along with our favorite picture frame
Candles are a staple of cozy decor, but for Halloween, it’s all about creating an atmosphere of mystique. For Amy's foyer table we swapped white tapered candles for black ones. Tapered candles bring a sophisticated feel, while the black add a gothic touch to your foyer table. You can choose ribbed matte black for a modern look paired with antique brass candlestick holder. This small change will make a big impact. Here are the candles and candle sticks we used.
The Pumpkin Touch
No Halloween decor is complete without a pumpkin. Add a real or artificial pumpkin to your foyer table arrangement. You can opt for a classic orange pumpkin for a pop of color or go with a classic white as we did here. Pumpkins look great layered on some old books which helps to not only add height but also grounds them.
Viola! The Perfect Halloween Foyer Table
With these simple swaps, you can easily transition your foyer table from the vibrant energy of summer to the enchanting spirit of autumns and Halloween. The seeded stems and black branches bring a touch of nature with a dark twist, while the playful Halloween prints add character and charm. The black candlesticks introduce an element of sophistication, and the pumpkin ties it all together with a classic Halloween touch.
By making these changes, you’ll create an inviting and spooky entrance to your home that’s sure to impress your guests.
